Riccardo Toccacielo

Biographie

Riccardo Toccacielo was born in Perugia (Italy) in 1979 and besides working as visual artist in Italy and Bucharest (Romania), he is a theatre and cinema actor as well a record vinyl collector. His first major museum show “Intorno a Satie” with art objects and sound installations that are related to Erik Satie took place in Perugia, Museo Civico di Palazzo della Penna 2017. While studying computer science, he immediately developed a passion for electronics applied to different forms of art. German Krautrock compositions, Italian avant-garde music published under the Cramps label, John Cage and, above all, Erik Satie are main sources of inspiration for his art works, most of them installations or object-related works. Riccardo believes in a personal transmission of experience: The creation of a material which can share memory. Such art objects that embody these functions are, for example, Riccardo Toccacielo´s sound-chair or sound-wall that make the audience experience music in a way that enhances the experience of sound with the totality of their body by being directly exposed to the sound waves themselves. RiccardoToccacielo´s work is a research on sound and on materials in all forms. His sound sculptures intend to represent the acoustic imprints of everyday life. The sound experience involves each individual.  „Sound“, as well as „music“, is, first of all, a personal and intimate fact, a dialogue of the individual and his world. The sound sculpture is a real sound artwork, capable of reproducing its own music and claims to decorate its own acoustic space, just as the paintings furnish the space for the eye. The creation process is a dynamic between space and sound. The material is deconstructed, worked and amplified and the resulting sound space makes the artworks unique and experiential. Riccardo Toccacielo has been represented by LDXArtodrome Gallery since 2018.
