Gaby Pühmeyer

Biography

Gaby Pühmeyer was born on August 6, 1954 in Stuttgart/Germany. She first studied at the Nürtingen Free Art Academy, then moved to the Nürtingen University of Applied Sciences for Art Therapy and completed her art studies in 2004 in the field of “figurative ceramics” with Dora Várkonyi at the Nürtingen Free Art Academy FKBW. She has had a studio offering courses in Esslingen since 2004. In her artistic work, Gaby Pühmeyer is inspired by the world of myths and dreams as well as by nature and human symbolism. Recently, the topic of people and animals has gained more importance for the artist. Here, too this is viewed in the context of myths and symbols as self-representations of mental processes of psychoanalysis. By surrendering herself to the world of these images, the artist becomes self-aware of her psyche’ s creative power as the elixir of her artistic working process. She builds her works from coarse fireclay clay, which gives her sculptures and objects a particularly lively structure. Colors play a very important role in her work. Blue, turquoise and white – the colors of the sky – are favored by the artist in all shades to convey her ideas. Gaby Pühmeyer has exhibited extensively and is represented internationally by the LDXArt Gallery.
