Danisa Glusevic Ferreira

Biography

Danisa Anita Glusevic Ferreira was born in Santiago de Chile in 1965. In 1991 she completed her studies in Fine Arts with a focus on painting at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago de Chile. From 1996 to 1999 she took up her DAAD scholarship (scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service) in Berlin. In addition, from 1999 to 2016 she attended various workshops at the art academies in Santiago and Essen in the subjects of lithography and watercolor. Since 2007 she has taken on various teaching positions in the artistic field, including one at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Chile. Since 2017 she has lived and worked in Düsseldorf. For Danisa Glusevic, the origin, the process and the goal are moments of cosmic significance. The origin of vitality and naturalness, of the universe and cultures, manifests itself not only in organic form, but also in the image formed by texture and graphic elements, that is when the artist juxtaposes structure and matter, graphics and painting, reminiscences from nature and artistic abstraction. In the painting process, the connection between opposites is created, just as a connection is created between the physical and inner world, just like water and colors come together. Aiming for a synesthetic experience, the artist chooses colors to trace the primitive, original “sound” of the cosmos. At the same time, the painting process also reflects her own process of self-discovery: forms serve as boundaries to give space to emotions, which she in turn encounters during the decomposition and oxidation of matter in the painting process. The aim of her abstract paintings is to create visual compositions that turn the organic original into an organon (Greek for ‘tool’) for new visions. Danisa Glusevic looks back on many years of international exhibition activity and has received numerous awards. She has been represented by LDXArtodrome Gallery since 2024.
